The Part-timer / Social / Networking / Just for Fun Dinner – weekly throughout the year.
Every week 10-15 MBA students (who don’t know each other) will join us at a different restaurant throughout the GTA. On September 17, 15 of us (including part-time, full-time, and alumni) dined at Mercatto and met 14 new friends in the program. Our October 1st dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant in Vaughan has already been fully booked. Do contact Keith Loo if you’d like to get on the diner’s list for future dinners.
Part-time Profiles
Throughout the year, we will profile current part-time students, alumni, and faculty in the hopes of getting to know each other better. Please contact me if you’d like to nominate someone for a profile (including yourself!).
Nitasha Rajora, MBA
(part-time and full-time alumni)

Keith’s note: I had the pleasure of starting my Schulich experience with Nitasha when we met at Olympia 2008. I quickly discovered that she is an incredibly accomplished, astonishingly bright, and ridiculously fun person. Since then, I have had the pleasure of getting to know her through numerous GBC social events, and count her as one of my close friends from Schulich. She had won Student of the Month in 2009 for her efforts in managing the Tom MacMillan Speaks event where then President and CEO of CIBC Mellon met up with Schulich students at an intimate and interactive event at an upscale Japanese restaurant. She was also a co-host of the 2010 Graduate Formal – the most successful and celebrated event of its kind. Now, Nitasha makes it out to various GBC events and still is an active part of the Schulich community.
The following is an excerpt of an interview with Nitasha
What are you currently pursuing in your career, and what position do you hold?
I am currently pursuing a career in property development. For the majority of my career I was working as an Architect. However, when I started my MBA in 2008 I had just changed jobs and was working as a Senior Project Manager at the Ontario Realty Corporation.
What are some of the highlights of your professional experience?
I've been fortunate enough to work internationally as an Architect on various projects in Durban, South Africa, London, UK, New York, NY and also in Canada. I had the opportunity to work on some high profile projects like the New York Times Building and the new World Trade Center Towers in New York, NY.
What is your education?
I attended McGill University for my undergraduate degree in Architecture, graduating with a BSc (Arch) and BArch. I qualified to become a registered Architect in 2008, licensed with the Ontario Association of Architects.
I started my MBA to switch from architecture to the business side of architecture.
I chose Schulich because of its real property specialization, and the strong faculty within the department. I knew I wanted to continue to work in my field, but perhaps a different aspect of construction/development that I had been exposed to working in architecture, so that's why I decided to do my MBA. I knew it would give me the business acumen I needed to further myself in my career, and branch out into the business side of architecture.
I think you can underestimate the community that you become a part of once you start your MBA. It's easy to attend classes and head home straight afterwards, but getting time to know your classmates is a big part of what makes the experience. Switching from part time to full time was harder in that respect because I didn't start and end with the same group of people, but now I'm happy I have the benefit of knowing both groups.
I work as a Bid Manager at Bouygues Building Canada, an international development company that does design, build, finance and operation of projects. I am responsible for the implementation of bid strategy, managing project delivery and closing bids for numerous Public Private Partnership design, construction and operation projects within the building sector. Currently I am working on a bid for the Pan Am Games happening in Toronto in 2015.
If there's any one message you could tell all MBA students, what would that be?
Balance other things in life with school or you will get burned out. Be accountable for your work, especially group work.
