Sealing Easter
Thank goodness being in shape was not a necessity!

Fresh off of our 24-hour relay, Team Schuligan totally rocked Canada's Party with a Cause! Schulich’s involvement with the Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay was an amazing success this year!! We were able to raise the bar higher for fundraising with over $9,200 in pledges for children, youth and young adults with disabilities - finishing sixth in pledges overall and first in numbers of laps ran with a total of 168 miles/273.28km!
I must say, it was indeed a pleasure to take part in the festivities. Everything from the incredible team cheer (we showed them how we get down), our cool outfits (with matching glow-wear to boot), and most importantly, our vivacious team of 60+ who showed up to party like rock stars made the event an amazing event. If you missed this year's run, make sure you are there next year - how else could you run/jog/sprint/walk/crawl on the lakeshore while playing poker, singing karaoke, dancing up a storm, rocking football, getting rocked in softball, rocking da band, rocking out with a band, watching people getting hypnotized, and drinking in a tent with some of the koolest kats?
To all those who participated and to those who pledged - THANK YOU.Yes, it was raining (pouring, actually), and it did get kinda dirty at times - but it was well worth it. I'm just happy to have participated. Hope to see you next year. We have many, many, many photos and videos to post up. Here's a sample of them: Easter Seals Photos 2009.
You've got to check out the team cheer video! I'll put that up soon. If you have any photos, please get them to me via MSN or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Now THAT'S a party!
From the Easter Seals - THANK YOU note:
"When it rains, it pours!
At the 2009 24 Hour Relay weekend, this statement was so accurate, yet so fitting. The flood gates opened and brought a tide of passion for Easter Seals kids, as all of you stuck it out through the rain, wind and cold. 24 Hour Relay is one of Canada's only longstanding, high-spirited team fundraising events, combining camaraderie with friendly competition, as teams come together for 24 hours of wacky activities and good (clean) fun. Your commitment and perseverance this weekend helped Relay raise over $251,000 (and growing), for many Easter Seals kids and families. It can cost families up to $40,000 a year to raise a child with a severe physical disability. Easter Seals Ontario assists families of kids with physical disabilities with the purchase of costly specialized equipment and is recognized as an industry leader in providing fully accessible recreation programs at Easter Seals Camps.
Your fundraising efforts help kids with physical disabilities and their families meet some of these challenges. In 24 hours, our participants experienced fun challenges and activities, a new running course along Toronto's waterfront, great live entertainment, delicious food and refreshments in the Sleeman Lounge/Beer Tent.
A heartfelt thank you to Team Schuligans, Captain Jenny Lee, for her leadership, and all the team members, who made such a difference by organizing a great running team, driving the fundraising and spirit campaigns and engaging everyone in friendly competition at Coronation Park. Congratulations to Team Schuligans for your success as the 6th highest fundraising team, raising $9,277.52 for Easter Seals Kids AND going the distance to achieve the highest number of laps run (169 laps/273.28km)! Thank you for placing Schulich School of Business into the Relay 'defenders' position for 2010 - in only 6 short years, this year's team has set the bar high at 24 Hour Relay. We look forward to you stepping up to defend your title in 2010 and 2011 (the 20th Anniversary Relay)."
So, thank you, thank you runners, pledgers, volunteers, participants, supporters, everyone. Thank you.
K
